Business Spotlight: Meet Angela Mancini, Counselor & Owner of La Luna Counseling

Updated: May 2, 2022

Meet Angela Mancini! Angela is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey. Read on to learn more about her and her practice.

Tell us a little bit about your practiceHow can you help women suffering from postpartum depression?

My goal for La Luna Counseling was to have a space that people can come in and finally just sigh away their worries. La Luna offers individual therapy and group meetings. I think what makes La Luna different than other centers is that when I say that I understand where you are coming from, I truly understand. I am a survivor of postpartum depression and anxiety. I made it out to the other side and you can too. I want to bring that relatable relaxed energy into my space. This is no judgment area and there is nothing that we can’t talk about. With COVID I am offering a tele-health option. For those that opt for in-person sessions I am practicing social distancing, using air purifiers and giving the option for masks once we are seated.

What made you choose the field you are in?

I chose this field because I am a mom and when I was going through my PPD I felt that there were not enough resources available. I had to explore and find my own way through the journey to find help. I want to make these services as accessible as possible. Having kids change your life forever, but that change doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing. I want moms to know that we can get through the change together. I have two children and actually did not go through PPD with my first so it was definitely shocking for me. My daughter was the inspiration for opening La Luna, her name is actually Luna.

Tell us about your family life.  Do you have any children?  What are their ages?

I am married for 5 years and have a 3-year-old boy and a 6-month-old girl.

What can we find you doing when you are not at work?

When I’m not at work you can find me caring for my rescue animals at my house and my friend’s house. We opened a small animal rescue so if I’m not with actual babies, I’m with animal babies!

What are your professional goals?  What are your personal goals?

My professional goal is to expand the services in La Luna to possibly home visits and more support groups. I want to be a support to as many moms as I could be. Personally, I want more babies! (animal and human!)
